Community Cook Books Now Available!
At HomeSpace, our vision is A Home for Everyone in Our Community. Home and food are so often closely tied together - the joy of cooking in your own space, the comfort of relaxing at home while indulging in a delicious dish, the memories of bonding with your family at the dinner table or sharing a laugh and a meal with your neighbours. On October 1, 2018 we celebrated our second anniversary as an organization, releasing a cook book in honour of and in collaboration with our dedicated community who help us provide safe, permanent, affordable homes for Calgarians in need. The recipes come from a wide range of our connections - residents, staff, agency and government partners, suppliers, volunteers and other supporters, and even local professional chefs. We’re proud to showcase such a diverse group of contributors, from different walks of life and every generation, gender and ethnicity. There is something amazing in the making here and it isn’t just the food, it’s the meaning and passion behind the food. At HomeSpace, this sort of collaboration is baked into everything we do.We sought to highlight recipes with simple ingredients: eggs, bread, canned goods, apples, and cheese, some of the staples found in every pantry or refrigerator. Many of these ingredients can also be found in a typical Calgary Food Bank hamper, making them truly universal. This book is for everyone - created by our community, for our community. Whether you love cooking or you’re a novice, you’ll find many great recipes worth trying. We wanted to do something special in celebration of our residents and partners and we’re proud of the result. After all, no home is complete without a good cook book. Get yours today!
