HomeSpace is constructing a 45-unit affordable family-oriented development in the Calgary’s Seton community, where rentals will be 20% below market. The site was previously a vacant lot owned by the City of Calgary and awarded in September 2020 to HomeSpace through a competitive non-market land disposition. The development will be comprised of 29 3-bedroom units (7 accessible), 11 2-bedroom units (2 accessible) and five accessible 1-bedroom units , as well as some communal amenity space located on the main floor of building block #4. HomeSpace will be the owner and property manager for the building and we will work with a social-serving agency partner to provide resident referrals, income testing, supports and community development.
Total project cost is expected to be $13 million (land at market value) and occupancy is slated for the summer of 2022. This building was made possible by the generous commitment of visionary homebuilders Brookfield Residential/Albi Homes through the RESOLVE Campaign, the Government of Canada through Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, and the City of Calgary.
